The Lord is my shepherd...

by Pastor Pete Panitzke on May 13, 2020

The video devotion (click here to view) begins with the reading of Psalm 23.

The bitterness and frustration that well up in your heart when you feel mistreated… David experienced that too.

Perhaps he wrote Psalm 23 during the time of our Old Testament reading (1 Samuel 24-25, click here to read). As you read about David’s fear and frustration in these chapters, look for evidence that he had his eyes focused on his Good Shepherd so that he could let go of the bitterness and desire for revenge.

In our New Testament reading (Luke 2:7-35, click here) the angels announce that David’s Greater Son came to be the Savior for all people. What a comfort that is for sinners like us who struggle to let go of the bitterness and frustration.

Holy Spirit, come into our hearts today. Turn our eyes to our Good Shepherd who gave up his life for us. Amen.
