The Full Message of this New Life

by Pastor Pete Panitzke on March 28, 2020

Our New Testament reading (Acts 5:1-21, click here to read or listen)raises lots of questions.
Did Ananias and Sapphira go to hell? Ultimately, this isn’t for you and me to know. The message is the same as the one Jesus taught in Luke 13:1-5. “Unless you repent, you too shall perish.”
Why doesn’t our God provide miraculous healing today like in this lesson? I don’t know, but I do know that if our God chooses to let this pandemic run its course, he will use it as our time to tell “the full message of this new life.”
How do I have the courage of the apostles? They didn’t give into fear. In our Old Testament reading, you will be reminded what enabled Jesus to stand up against Satan’s temptations. All three of Jesus’ responses to Satan are found in today’s reading. Review Matthew 4:1-11 (click here)and then read Deuteronomy 6-8 (click here).
Serving our Children
Many of you are using this time to reclaim “the family altar” as parents lead worship in the home. Today, it may be fun to read Deuteronomy 6 to them and ask them to shout out when a passage sounds familiar to them. There are several passages that are used frequently.
We have also reworked our Kids Club material for parents to teach their children. You will find a host of resources by scrolling down on our Online Worship page. Kids Club "Dig In @ Home" is also attached.
Worship Online
Attached is the worship folder for our traditional service. It includes all the readings and Prayer of the Church. The message outline and abbreviated GroupWork is also attached.  Our traditional service will be available (click here) today at 5 pm. The Bridge will be live streamed Sunday morning at 10:15 (click here).
Thank You!
Thank you for enabling St. Paul’s continue to proclaim “the full message of this new life.” We are reaching more people than ever through our online resources (Share the link with others) and social media (Invite your friends). Our Christian education continues with our 4K-8 grade teachers providing virtual learning for our children. We are organizing to help those who need assistance in our community (click here to request assistance or to offer to help). Thank you to those who are mailing in gifts. Click here if you would like the join the many who are using online giving.
“Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else” (2 Corinthians 9:13).
