Life is a Mess--God Has It Figured Out!--Resources

by Pastor Pete Panitzke on May 04, 2020

The Safer-at-Home order has made a mess of so many of our plans. But God has it figured out! That's the message I get from our lessons from today. Watch the video introduction to our lessons by clicking here.

Life was a mess in 1 Samuel 6-8 (click here to read).  The ark of God's covenant was in Philistine control. Plague was ravaging the Philistines. And to top it all off, the Israelites ask for a king. The LORD says it is because "they have rejected me as their king. " In spite of that rebellion, God gives them a king because God has it figured out. He already knew that he would use kings like David to bless his people in the future.

Life was a mess in Acts 15:36-16:15 (click here to read).  Jesus' great missionaries Paul and Barnabas have an argument about their traveling companion John Mark. It is such a sharp argument, that don't work together any more. But God has it figured out. God uses that division to multiply the mission work, and many years later John Mark will be a trusted coworker of both Paul and Peter.

What is a mess in your life right now? May our lessons for today assure you that God has it figured out! May Psalm 131 be our prayer today:

My heart is not proud, LORD,
    my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
    or things too wonderful for me.
But I have calmed and quieted myself,
    I am like a weaned child with its mother;
    like a weaned child I am content.

Israel, put your hope in the LORD
    both now and forevermore. Amen.

Help for Parents and Children

Our thanks to St. Paul's member Nikki Timm who works in the Greendale School District for sharing the attached resources. I especially appreciated some of the links about helping parents talk with their children about COVID-19. I would encourage you to save it for future reference.

Celebrating with Wisconsin Lutheran College

The faculty and staff at Wisconsin Lutheran College received a wonderful gift from the seniors - a thank you video. Thought you might enjoy seeing these young Christian leaders. Watch the "Thank You" video here.

A local news organization also did a broadcast about it. Watch the Spectrum News broadcast here.

God bless your service the Savior today!

Pastor Pete
