It is good for us to be here!

by Pastor Pete Panitzke on February 21, 2020

This Sunday is the celebration of Jesus’ transfiguration (See Matthew 17:1-9) when he appeared in all of his glory as God. The Apostle Peter wanted to stay and bask in this wonderful glory. He didn’t want to have to go back down the mountain and do the hard work that lay ahead.

It is good for us to be here!

Often on Transfiguration Sunday, we are reminded that it is good for us to be in worship where we bask in the glory of God’s grace, reminded of our Savior’s love for us.

It is good for us to be here!

This Sunday as we complete our Culture Shift message series (Watch or listen to the previous messages here), we can always say, “It is good for us to be here!” If we are at work. It is good for us to be at work. If we are working at home. It is good for us to be there. If we are in school. It is good for us to be there.

We might like to spend our lives in times of rest and refreshment, spiritually in worship and physically in days of idleness and play. But even in the Garden of Eden, God called his children to serve him through work. And so it is also today. It is good for us to be here, whatever our calling in life, as long as we are working for Jesus and working with Jesus.

Join us this weekend as we complete our message series with the them: Culture Shift—When Work Becomes Worship based on Colossians 3:22-24 with references to Matthew 25:14-45.

St. Paul's authors...

St. Paul's member Lois York-Lewis was recently published in one of our synod's publications. Read her article "Is there a TBI survivor in your church" here.

A blog that I wrote last year about Ash Wednesday was expanded into a devotion that is on the back page of March's Forward in Christ. I've attached a scanned copy. Subscribe here to receive this monthly magazine filled with devotions, faith stories, and news about our synod. See a preview here.

Our Resident Artist Mike Westendorf and several of our members have worked with Time of Grace Ministries to produce Mile Marker Videos for the 18 to 25 year old generation. Check them out here! Share them on social media to spread the word!

It is good to be here, worshiping and working with talented Christians who love their Lord and want to share that love! Check out the attached St. Paul's News for more information.
