Last weekend’s message was “Love Sincerely” (available here). In today’s New Testament lesson (find Romans 13 here), Paul says we have “the continuing debt to love one another.” Below is an opportunity to put love into practice at Lighthouse Youth Center, serving and learning with the youth of the Garden Homes neighborhood.
HELPING MILWAUKEE KIDS WITH VIRTUAL SCHOOL
The Lighthouse Youth Center at Garden Homes Lutheran Church is in need of tutors to help youth with school lessons and homework assigned to them via virtual learning.
Lighthouse assists families and children by providing a safe environment and needed technology so inner city students can complete school assignments and keep learning.
Lighthouse is open and running its program with all of the safety precautions in place that are required of them: temp checks, strong cleaning procedures, less than 50% capacity, COVID admission related questions, wearing masks, etc.
In addition to the tutoring, Lighthouse is also in need of people to physically provide Friday night suppers for the children or financial help so it can obtain supper for the children directly.

Loving and Learning from the Past
The Chronicler continues to use history teach about the faithfulness of our God and how our God blesses faithfulness to him in our Old Testament lesson (find 2 Chronicles 13-15 here). A few phrases that stood out to me:
- The people of Judah were victorious because they relied on the LORD, the God of their fathers (13:18).
- No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest (14:6).
- They sought God eagerly, and he was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side (15:15).
Outdoor Service this Sunday
Share the news that we will be offering another outdoor service this Sunday, August 23 at 10:30 am in place of The Bridge and the 10:45 service. Bring your own lawn chairs. Three of our teachers will be installed as we prepare for school opening on Tuesday, August 25. May God bless our worship and our school!
