Scripture Lesson for The Lord’s Prayer: God’s Will | Matthew 6:10; Matthew 26:36-46

Jesus and his disciples go to the Garden of Gethsemane on the night he will be arrested. Jesus tells some of his disciples to sit and wait while he goes to pray. Jesus goes a little father into the garden, falls with his face to the ground and prays, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup—[the suffering and death on the cross]—be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus teaches us that God’s will is most important. Wanting God’s will to be done rather than our own, is the way it should be. Wanting God’s will to be done should also be a big part of our prayers.
