My Cup Overflows

My Cup Overflows | Psalm 23:5-6 (NIRV); Ruth 2–4 (NIRV)

At the end of his song/psalm about God our Shepherd, David celebrates God’s blessings in his life. David proclaims that his cup overflows with them. These blessings include God’s goodness and unfailing love (mercy) which go wherever David goes.

Another great example of the Good Shepherd’s goodness, love, and blessings is the Bible story, “Ruth and Naomi.” Naomi is Ruth’s mother-in-law. Both women lose their husbands and move back to Naomi’s homeland in order to survive. In those days, life without a man to protect and care for you was very tough. But you know who did love and care for Ruth and Naomi? God, the Good Shepherd.

Count Your Blessings

What's Your Estimate

Dear Heavenly Father:

You are the loving, generous Good Shepherd. Thank you for all the blessings you give us. Food, home, clothing, family, friends, money, health, hobbies—the list goes on and on. Help us to be truly grateful for these blessings and to be good stewards of them. Also, give us opportunities to share our overflowing blessings with those in need. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
