Mary and Joseph, engaged to be married, travel to Bethlehem for a census. While they are there, Mary gives birth to Jesus, God’s Son! Angels appear and tell shepherds the good news. The shepherds rush to see this amazing baby — God in human flesh!

Dr. Joel Nelson

Dr. Nelson is St. Paul’s Director of Discipleship and has been in this role since 2015.  He is tasked with development and supervision of adult and youth spiritual growth programming.  Dr. Nelson has been a teacher, principal, staff minister, and synodical administrator. Since 1978, he has served ethnically and numerically diverse congregations in Chicago-IL, Santa Barbara-CA, Milwaukee-WI, and Muskego-WI. He has a B.S. in Education, an M.S. in Family Studies, and an Ed.D. in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service.
