For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come (1 Timothy 4:8).
Many of us are dealing with the COVID-19, the pounds we’ve gained as we have raided the refrigerator while working from home. Many of us need to get back into a training regime.
In our New Testament lesson (find 1 Timothy 4 here), Paul encouraged Timothy to be in a consistent spiritual training regime.
The importance of that spiritual training regime is made clear to me in our Old Testament lesson (find 2 Chronicles 27-29 here). The lives of three kings are recorded. They probably had the best food and the best care available, but they still died at a young age.
One of these kings lived only 36 years (Ahaz) and brought death and destruction to thousands because he led God’s people away from the LORD. The other two kings also died relatively young (Jotham at 41 and Hezekiah at 54), but they brought blessing to thousands because they “walked steadfastly before the LORD” (27:6).
Physical training does have value, but spiritual training has value not only for our eternal future but the eternal future of the people in our area of influence.
How is your spiritual training regime?

Prayer for our Schools
We are thankful to our gracious God that our school is starting its third week of in person classes! Today our 3K and 4K program began.
Prayer: Lord God, heavenly Father, continue to place your protecting hand over our school here at St. Paul’s and all the schools where our children attend. Keep our children and our staff safe and healthy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
