Pastor's Blog - Ever want to just give up?

Ever want to just give up?

Posted by Pastor Pete Panitzke on

Most of us have played Monopoly. Many of us have been in this situation. Your opponent has monopolies, hotels and houses. You’ve got a few dollars and mortgaged property left. You want to just give up, but your opponent wants to play one more round to officially bankrupt you.

That Monopoly game is the picture that we will use this weekend to understand the gift that God gives us this Christmas, the gift of Deliverance.
At times we may face situations that just seem to be hopeless. You feel defeated…

  • Physically
  • Financially
  • Emotionally
  • Relationally

In fact, Christmas can be just another source of stress. Just another reason to give up!

But Christmas promises a new start!

It is that new start that we will explore this weekend. In preparation, read the promise of a new start in Isaiah 61:1-3 and the promise of new clothes in Isaiah 61:10-11. For further background, you may also want to read about the Year of the LORD’s Favor or the Year of Jubilee in Leviticus 25.

God's Christmas Gift to Us? The promise of deliverance from our hopelessness… a new start!

You may also want to review our messages series:
December 3 – The Gift of Love that Can Handle the Truth
December 10 – The Gift of Humility (Sanctuary) (Bridge)

Remember that we have an entire library of messages (video, audio, printed) from the last several years available here.

You can also join us live on Sundays at 10:15 am here.

Christmas Plans

We enjoyed our first Christmas program last evening when our School of Early Learning (children from infant to age three) sang their Christmas songs to us.

Next weekend there will be 11 services starting with our school Christmas program on Friday evening. Find the complete listing of services at Share the link with your friends!

School News

Attached is a State of the School report from Mr. Fitzsimmons. Enjoy celebrating God’s blessings over the last semester and see what is coming up in the new year.

News and Notes

Every week our worship folder is filled with news about congregation, school, and mission partners. See the attached.

Year-end Gifts

If you would like to give a year-end gift to support our ministry, you can donate directly from a checking or savings account or use a credit card at we bring this year to a close, we especially encourage you to consider a special gift to the General Operating Fund, the Mortgage Fund, and/or the Lutheran Elementary School Tuition Assistance (LESTA) Fund.

God give you joy in this Christmas Season… the joy of a new start in Christ.
