Pastor's Blog - Daily Reading of Judges

Daily Reading of Judges

Posted by Pastor Pete Panitzke on

This past week one of your brothers in Christ achieved a milestone. He had read through the entire Bible. "I have begun reading Genesis again and plan to read through the Bible every year until I am called home."
"Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it" (Luke 11:28).

It is our prayer that every child of God could celebrate that spiritual milestone.

If you have already begun a daily Bible reading pattern, please don't stop. But if you haven't, I invite you to begin with the attached daily reading of Judges, a chapter per day.

A product of our society

I'm suggesting this series of readings to prepare your hearts for our three part message series on the life of Samson.

Samson was influenced by the world in which he lived. You can see that as you read through Judges. As you read Judges, consider how we too are influenced by the society around us.

But then don't stop with Judges. See how our God turned his people around as you continue into Ruth and 1 Samuel.

May the Holy Spirit open our eyes to see how our lives have been shaped by the sinful world around us. May we find comfort in the LORD's patience with his people at the time of the Judges. May we find hope as we see the LORD's ability to turn a people back to himself. LORD, work that miracle in us and through us. Amen.
